THE RULES


Rules and Regulations -

Section IV: Fishing
Fishing from any dam, pier, or property owned by E.L.L.O.A. is prohibited.

2.    Fishing from water craft is not permitted in the fast traffic ski area from 11:00 a.m. to
       4:00 p.m.  (Fishing from water craft during ski hours is permitted in bayous only.)

Only members and their guests are permitted to fish in East Lake.

Fishing is permitted throughout the year and no license is required.

The is no limit on size and number of fish taken with the exception of largemouth bass; a fifteen-inch minimum size limit has been imposed on largemouth bass.  You must return bass fifteen inches and under.  You may keep all others.

Commercial fishing is prohibited.

Goldfish and carp minnows are prohibited.

Placing fish in East Lake for stocking purposes is prohibited without the consent of the E.L.L.O.A., Inc. Board of Directors.

Use of seines, traps, gigs fire arms, pellet and air guns, explosives, shocking devices, arrows, spear guns, and other similar devices are prohibited in the waters of East Lake.

Holes cut for ice fishing shall not exceed 8" in diameter.  Cutting holes in the ice for any purpose other than ice fishing is prohibited - except in case of emergency.

When leaving the ice, fisherman must remove all debris and any other materials that were brought onto the ice- i.e., chairs, etc.

*Other rules of specific interest to fishermen:

Section II: Watercraft:
Display current and correct lot no.  (Min. 3 inch letters)
Display current E.L.L.O.A. sticker.
8.A.  One life preserver per person in the boat.
8.B.  One hour after sunset/one hour before sunrise must display light visible from 100 ft.
9.A.  Fishing boats powered by max. 55 HP
10.C. Observe idle speed at all times in bayous - no wake, no wash behind buoys.
10.D.  Observe idle speed from in all areas between the hours of 4:00 p.m. and 11:00 a.m.  

Section V. Boats, etc.
During ski hours (from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) all water craft will proceed in a counterclockwise direction while in the fast traffic area.
